The Housekeeper works under the direction of the Executive Housekeeper or Housekeeping Supervisor and General Manager. His or her responsibilities include performing proper cleaning of each guest room and performing responsibilities outside the guest rooms, guest service and satisfaction by performing the following duties.

- Loads cart with necessary supplies, ensures that all bottles are correctly labeled and cart is clean and neat.
- Follows brand approved cleaning procedures
- Strips beds and drops all dirty linens down laundry chute
- Makes beds properly checking for any stains or signs of wear on linens
- Vacuums & sweeps carpets & floors
- Mops floors as needed
- Dusts, brushes, polishes, & vacuums furniture
- Dusts & cleans room decorations, mirrors, appliances, & structural surfaces (e.g. wall fixtures, window sills, vents, ect.)
- Cleans showers, tubs, sinks, and bathroom items; removes used guest amenities & supplies
- Inspects rooms for safety hazards & for the operating conditions of equipment
- Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Checks for damaged linens or furnishings.
- Reports lost & found articles, maintenance problems, or special room problems (i.e. pets in room) to a supervisor or front desk employee.
- Prepares rooms for guest arrivals & responds to special guest requests (i.e. delivering newspapers or cleaning a spill).
- Inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness.
- Advises manager or front desk of rooms ready for occupancy.
- Inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies are in guest rooms.
- Examines rooms, halls and lobbies to determine need for repairs or replacement of furniture or equipment and makes recommendations to management.
Guest Service & Satisfaction
- Responds promptly to any guest inquiries or complaints (if reasonable) by either doing it himself/herself or delegating a co-employee or asking for a managers help
- Offers alternate solution if guest demand cannot be met
- Shows personal control in front of guests by maintaining positive attitude, staying calm & patient, avoiding use of negative language, and never displaying anger; demonstrates a commitment to taking care of the guest
- Takes initiative to speak to guest
- Acknowledges every guest with eye contact and greeting
Job Requirements
- Knowledge of how to properly clean a room using the appropriate cleaning techniques & chemicals
- Knowledge of the safety & security rules & procedures for the hotel
- Ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours a day
- Complete all brand required training programs
