Location: Five Towns College, Dix Hills, New York
Founded in 1972, Five Towns College is a private, coeducational, non-sectarian institution of higher education. The College serves the cause of music, media, and the performing arts. Additional areas of emphasis in teacher education, business, and the liberal arts and sciences are strongly aligned with the College’s overarching relationship with the arts and communication.
Located on a beautiful 40-acre campus in Dix Hills, the geographic heart of Long Island, New York, the College is a creative center for learning, which attracts artists and scholars from around the world who seek to be enriched by the unique educational experiences it offers.
Five Towns College offers associate, bachelor, master, and doctoral degree programs in eight major areas of study. The most popular degree programs include music, film/video, theatre arts, business management, and mass communication. Programs of study begin twice each year in the fall and spring following a traditional academic semester calendar. Summer, winter, evening, and part-time learning opportunities are also offered. The College delivers classes in traditional, hybrid, and blended formats.
The College holds an Absolute Charter granted by the New York State Board of Regents, and its programs of study are registered with the New York State Education Department. Five Towns College is institutionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The College also holds programmatic accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). Its Business Division is a candidate for accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Approximately 750 students enroll at the College each year, with about 200 residing on-campus in the Five Towns College Living/Learning Center.

Job Description: Five Towns College, a leader in higher education for creative and performing arts, is seeking passionate, experienced, and innovative instructors to join our Division of General Education adjunct faculty (English, Humanities, Social Sciences, Math, Science).
Compensation: $3375 per 3- credit course
Key Responsibilities (All Subject Areas):
- Teach up to 9 credits per semester.
- Perform administrative tasks utilizing the college's learning management system (LMS) related to course management, student information system (SIS) for submitting grades, student communication, and alerts.
- Participate and contribute in departmental activities such as meetings, Professional Development Days, etc.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and contribute to the vibrant community of the college.
Specific Responsibilities by Subject Area:
Math: Teach courses in the following areas:
· Algebra
· Mathematical Concepts (investing, loans, interest, etc.)
English: Teach courses in the following areas:
· English Composition 1(Write in a variety of styles, emails, stories, and essays)
· English Composition 2 (Become critical readers/writers of thesis-driven essays)
Humanities: Teach courses in the following areas:
· History of New York (Social history of NY, and political, technological, and economic developments and issues that defined its evolution)
Social Sciences: Teach courses in the following areas:
· Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of the Family, and Social Problems
· General Psychology, and Psychology of Addiction and Substance Abuse
· The World and Its Peoples (Explore diversities, cultures, and societies of the contemporary world)
Science: Teach courses in the following areas:
· Sustainability Studies (Key knowledge areas of sustainability theory and practice, including population, ecosystems, global change, energy, and water)
· Human Biology
· Environmental Science
· Nutrition (Explore nutrient constituent foods, metabolism, and specific health problems)
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in field
- NYS Teaching Certification a plus
- A minimum of 3 years' teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to student success.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, dynamic academic environment.
