Child Life Disaster Relief is seeking a full-time Executive Director who is motivated by our mission to mitigate the negative effects of disasters on children and families.
The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors, previous Executive Director, staff and contractors to continue developing this organization. Building partnerships that allow for further disaster relief efforts and that lead to future funding are critical. The Executive Director will be the only full-time employee at this time and will ensure program, marketing, and fundraising are all moving forward. There are existing strategic initiatives and goals, however the Executive Director will be invited to inform and adapt these - ultimately guiding the course for CLDR moving forward.
This position provides a commission on unrestricted funds raised as compensation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Partnerships:
- Maintains Board of Directors, ensuring this group is engaged and meeting goals.
- Collaborates with staff, contractors and volunteers to ensure successful outcomes.
- Oversees the preparation, editing, and review of materials including presentations, press releases and proposals.
- Cultivates and maintains relationships with individuals, companies, foundations, partner organizations, and volunteers.
- Ensures commitment to and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations across the organization
- Provides oversight to programming and coordination for deployments, delegating as appropriate.
Business and Funding:
- Tracks progress, cultivates, and secures donations, grants, and stable funding sources to meet funding needs.
- Creates outreach opportunities and new funding sources to enhance donor relations and awareness.
- Provides leadership and oversight in the identification, development, and maintenance of contact with donor prospects. Works with the Development Committee to research prospects for various projects and recommend proposal design and strategies for solicitation.
- Develops and implements a strategic plan that meets business goals and objectives created in partnership with the Board of Directors.
- Develops and manages annual operating and program budgets.
- Participates in team with the Board of Directors and committees to create a budget.
- Reports progress at Board meetings.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- CCLS certification is preferred
- Minimum of two years’ experience in the non-profit leadership or business field or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Prior experience in cultivating donors, partners, and volunteers to build and maintain successful programming.
- Prior experience in a non-profit organization position with significant donor relations, public relations and communications responsibilities.
- Demonstrates advanced level of understanding of fundraising, communication, and marketing principles.
- Demonstrates ability to relate positively to persons in multi-cultural, pluralistic community.
- Demonstrates ability and willingness to solicit funds through personal contacts with donors and prospects.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills necessary to work closely with the Board of Directors, donors, staff, partners and volunteers.
- Proficient in relevant technology.
- Must be willing and able to travel to complete business, leadership, and fundraising tasks.
