EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

College courses or training in education, gerontology, arts, recreation, or related fields.

Experience teaching and performing creative and fine arts.
Job Duties

Plans and organizes specialty art classes.

Teaches and instructs various techniques and styles .
-
Facilitates creative programs regularly for residents in different levels of service.

Oversees art gallery calendar, schedule, artwork, and display.
-
Research and purchase supplies for classes.
-
Adapts instruction level to meet the educational capabilities of residents at each level of care.
-
Assists in the marketing and introduction of new classes, ideas, and concepts.
-
Provides direct oversight for all contract employees for creative arts.
-
Maintains checkbook for Creative Arts Studio purchases.
-
Prepares a monthly schedule of events to be advertised in monthly program calendars.
-
Makes budget requests and provides purchase needs in advance and purchases needed supplies.
-
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with residents and family members as well as community team members.

Exceptional customer service skills.

Ability to read, write and communicate using the English language.

Ability to teach fine arts, crafts, and creative arts.

Knowledge of arts and crafts techniques, methods, and supplies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

May include frequent lifting (up to 25lbs).

Extensive walking, bending, stooping, standing.

Ability to work varied hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Exposure to the sights, sounds and odors of a typical long-term care and health care environment serving senior citizens, some with dementia.
