JOB OVERVIEW:
As a Solar Estimator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate bids, cost management, and helping to manage over 30 client relationships. You will collaborate with the project management team in the final due diligence and budget approvals. This is a full-time early / mid-career (3+ yrs. Solar Estimator) position within a stable solar company focused on employees. The role requires some potential travel to visit sites and meet with vendors.
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS:
Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate estimates from provided design sets ranging from 10% to IFC sets.
- Help manage estimating back log, and timelines.
- Conduct field surveys, coordinate, and communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate pricing.
- Schedule estimates and bids, manage bid files, create reports for ownership.
- Track and manage equipment and material information such as submittals, quotes and drawings, vendor information and product documentation.
- Provide reports and details to Project Manager once awarded.
- Work in a fast-paced environment, communicate with customers, building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Work with purchasing and design to track all cost components for each job.
- Utilize historical data when estimating new work.
- Present completed estimates to Sales team, make revisions as needed.
- Participate in descope and rebids as required by clients.
- Maintain updates in new technology by reading trade publications and attending trade shows.
- Keep up to speed with commonly used vendors for quick pricing.
- Utilize Blue Beam and offer similar technologies to complete take offs.
- An understanding of civil requirements and takeoffs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+years of Field Experience in Solar Estimation & Mechanical Contractor systems
- Able to read civil and electrical drawings & specifications.
- Understand electrical and building codes when estimating.
- Ability to clearly read and understand scopes of work.
- Strong organizational, multitasking skills, and detail oriented.
- Effective communication, team player, analytical thinking and problem solving ability.
- Ability to use technology like- MS Teams, MS Project, MS Excel, Procore, and different estimating softwares.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree/ Expertise in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and project meetings.
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
