Candidate Requirements:
USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with QMED endorsement
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
USCG issued Medical Certificate
U.S. Passport
Must be able to pass a drug screen.
Job Expectations:
QMEDs can expect to perform a variety of vessel operational duties which will include, but are not limited to:
Standing two 4-hour engine room watches per day. During those watches performing rounds while working closely with Engineers to monitor the vessel’s equipment and systems.
Perform and assist Engineers with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of shipboard machinery.
Ballast ship by operating the vessel’s valves during loading and unloading. Must have excellent knowledge of vessel terminology including but not limited to: suction, discharge, pressure, and draft.
Assist with safely bunkering the vessel.
Other maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
Work safely and in compliance with all environmental laws, federal regulations, company policies and procedures.
Participate in all training, drills and meetings.
All other duties within the scope of their certification as directed by the Engine Department, Mates or Master.
