POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for injection mold and product designs to support new product development while meeting all customer specifications; controls and manages all documentation pertaining to engineering matters; assists with technical issues, estimate molding and tooling costs and research and development activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Perform tooling or product design according to customers’ product specifications, accuracy and company standards; support new product development component tooling qualifications assuring all molding requirements are met (cost, quality, and capacity targets)
2. Estimate all molding and tooling quotations.
3. For new projects initiate job number assignment and job folder process, control part number assignments; revise and document all changes to existing and new product designs
4. Manage and coordinate all engineering related changes and corresponding documentation
5. Manage and maintain all prototype vendors
6. Oversee testing of prototype parts and scaling up prototype molds into full production designs
7. Work with cross-functional team (president and production management) to help develop new and innovative state of the art tooling designs to achieve maximum production efficiency, performance and cost effectiveness
8. Maintain participation in R&D new product development meetings as needed
9. Project Management with each customer
10. Maintain IQMS preventative maintenance as per list
11. Solidworks w/3D Modeling in Solid & Surfaces

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred. Will consider individual with sufficient level of coursework or industry experience beyond high school to obtain the necessary engineering and tooling design skills required for the position
- A minimum of two to five years relevant plastic injection mold design and tooling experience in a supervisory role
- Has demonstrated strong troubleshooting skills and technical knowledge of tooling related injection molding principles and concepts
- Ability to effectively use tools associated with ensuring product quality including calipers, micrometer, depth micrometer, indicators, gage pins, gage blocks, height and pin gages, coordinate measurement machine (CMM) or precision optical equipment
Language Skills
Has strong written and verbal control of the English language, ability to communicate effectively with others and be clearly understood
Mathematical Skills
The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure including whole numbers, common fractions, trigonometry, geometry and decimals; the ability to compute rate, ratio, draft angles and percentages and interpret graphs and statistics
Reasoning Ability
Has ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of inputs furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Exhibits strong judgment and works with minimal supervision
Computer Operations
Intermediate to advanced personal computer skills; experienced at Microsoft Office applications with very strong knowledge and proficient skills in Solidworks, Moldworks, or similar 3D CAD software including the ability to manipulate geometry, splines, curves, radii, complex surfaces and solids
Planning and Organization
Ability to effectively prioritize, deal effectively with complexity, organize, multi-task and be detailed oriented. Good organization and communication skills. Able to meet deadlines, follow through on commitments and take corrective action where appropriate

Working Conditions
Well- lighted, heated and air-conditioned indoor office, production and warehouse area with adequate ventilation. Job requires lifting up to 25 pounds less than 1/3 of the time

Light to medium physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. Has ability to move and operate freely in office and production areas

Manual dexterity sufficient to work with fingers
Work Schedule/Hours
Scheduled hours are 7:00am to 5:30pm with a half hour lunch

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
