Claims Administrative Support
JOB DESCRIPTION
The New York Black Car Operators’ Injury Compensation Fund, Inc. or The Black Car Fund is a not-for-profit organization that provides workers’ compensation insurance, safety education, and a book of health and wellness benefits to drivers who operate in the state of New York and are affiliated with transportation companies that are The Fund’s Member Bases.
Due to a recent promotion, we are seeking to immediately fill the Claims Administrative Support position to support the operation of the Claims Unit.
COMMON EXPECTATIONS
PRIMARY and COMMON RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following.
- Processing Claims Unit mail
- Data Entry
- Document management/scanning
- Setting up Ability files in our Claims operating system.
- Mail drop at local post office or mailbox
- Perform ad hoc projects as needed.
KNOWLEDGE OF
Relevant office assisting and administrative work. Detail to customer service etiquette. Basic principles and procedures of organizational skills. Standard office procedures and methods including computer equipment and supporting applications. English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Must Have the following abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication skills
- Proficient in the use of Windows operating system and Microsoft Word
- Multitask and consistently meet strict deadlines.
- Must be well organized, take initiative, and be adaptable to change.
- Ability to take direction; follow protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work well with a team and independently.
- Ability to set and prioritize daily tasks independently and complete daily goals.
ABILITY TO
Produce quality work in an efficient manner. A successful candidate must be diligent and committed to the attention to detail to assist us with meeting our department goals. The selected candidate will be required to perform the following responsibilities and will work in the Claims Unit under the direction of the Claims Management Team:

QUALIFICATIONS/PREFERENCES
- Punctuality, customer service knowledge, the ability to work successfully both in a team or solo environment, and adaptability are critical to this role.
- Provide excellent verbal and written communication.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Be proactive and think ahead.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Experience with workers' compensation or in an office setting is highly preferred.

- Mask wearing is required with respect to CDC Guidelines following a positive test result while working in the office.

Pay: $52,500.00 - $57,500.00 per year
