The Enterprise Relationship Marketing Department is seeking a Social Media Assistant Manager to lead the strategy and implementation of all social media efforts for the Honda auto brand. You will work closely with several internal and external partners to increase brand awareness, engage customers across all parts of the customer journey, support sales and increase operational and budget efficiencies.
This role leads the Honda Autos unit of the Enterprise Relationship Marketing Department, the brand’s complex roster of agencies and vendors, and manage the Honda social media budget to drive change at social’s demanding pace.
Relationship Marketing & Social Content Strategy:
- Lead social media strategy for Honda’s owned channels, compromising of 10+ channels and a community of 15M+ followers.
- Lead all of Honda’s auto paid social media campaigns, inclusive of vehicle and brand campaigns, retail efforts, social moments, partnerships, experiential campaigns, etc.
- Analyze social listening data and performance metrics to identify key target audience needs in order to develop content strategies that deliver personalized marketing experiences on our owned social channels
- Develop comprehensive strategies that grow the Honda community and deliver KPIs across the entire customer journey, from awareness metrics to qualified site visits (QSVs).
- Develop ongoing standard operating practices to strengthen and protect the brand’s reputation and mitigate risk on social platforms
- Drive collaborative working relationships with the marketing, PR, sales and product planning teams on integrated plans to inform social editorial strategy and align with broader organizational goals (from ideation to approval to execution to analysis).
Agency & Vendor Management:
- Drive cost and time efficiencies by identifying and onboarding new social media content vendors to support the increasing social native asset needs
- Negotiate terms, agreements, and service level expectations with vendors, ensuring they align with the organization's goals.
- Define and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) to vendors, specifying the expected results and outcomes.
- Facilitate the onboarding process, ensuring that vendors understand the organization's brand, culture, and guidelines.
- Supervise creation of campaign briefs for partners and agencies
- Manage the budget allocated for vendor services and track expenses to ensure they align with the agreed-upon contract.
- Assess vendor performance periodically and make decisions about contract renewal, renegotiation, or termination.
Internal Team Management:
- Supervise 2 direct reports across strategy, analytics and campaign development
- Serve as a senior point of contact for potential crisis management
- Determine the most impactful industry and platform updates for the business. Guide team towards implementation.
- Define future business plans for the Honda Social team
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- BA / BS in marketing, communications or related work experience
- 7-10 years of experience in communications, marketing, social media management, with a minimum of 4 years working with large brands
- In-depth knowledge of social media platforms (specifically, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook), their functionalities, and best practices
- Deep understanding of automotive and motorsports industries
- Paid, owned and earned social media proficiency
- Experience in mitigating resolving brand risk and crises
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to identify potential opportunities and risks within social media activities
- Ability to adapt quickly to evolving technologies and industry trends
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under tight deadlines
- Creative thinker with a keen eye for design aesthetics
- Proficient in analyzing data and extracting insights to improve social media performance
- A passion for vehicles and social media
- Professional certifications in social media management, AI or related fields are a plus
- Ability to speak, read and write multiple languages (Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, etc.)
