Warehouse Shipping and Receiving Clerk Shipping and Receiving is an important role in our process and directly affects the supply chain process. This position will help to ensure that all shipments are correct and on time and ensure that our customers can count on accurate shipments from us.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment
- Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
- Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates
- Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencil identifying shipping information on cartons
- Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers
- Insert items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
- Post weights and shipping charges and affix postage
- Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
- Route items to appropriate departments
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
- Pull and verify orders to be shipped to customers
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- Operate forklift or hand truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area
- Develop novel ways site wide to streamline processes
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
- Maintain a clean, clear and organized work area at all times. Clean as you go.
- Help with monthly inventory cycle counts
- Assist customers at front counter and dock when needed loading and unloading cylinders
- Train to qualify to pump Propane and Liquid Oxygen cylinders when needed
- Manage time effectively to minimize non-productive / non-value-added hours.
- BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience in a shipping and receiving role
- General customer service aptitude and interest
- Basic computer skills
- Must have good driving record
- Must be drug free (pre-employment and random drug testing)
- PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees and customers
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Forklift and other related inventory equipment experience
- ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physical effort including standing, lifting, bending, squatting and carrying light to moderately heavy materials or equipment (up to 60 lbs. unassisted) and higher with assistance of dollies.
- Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain. Ability to work in non-climate-controlled warehouse.
