General Function:
The Maintenance Technician position will be required to carry out assigned tasks without direct supervision and at times to assist the Support Services Lead Maintenance Technician with his tasks/duties. The Maintenance Technician position must maintain approved driving privileges with Babcock Center.
Qualifications:
The Maintenance Technician position requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid South Carolina drivers’ license with a good driving record. The position requires a good knowledge of residential and light commercial facility maintenance. The position requires a good knowledge of computer maintenance software programs. The position requires solid organizational, communication and documentation skills. Must possess the willingness and ability to cooperate with staff and management at all Babcock Center facilities including all Contractors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain Babcock Center facilities in compliance with Federal, SC State and local codes.
2. Maintain Babcock Center facilities in safe and good operational condition.
3. Complete facility maintenance work request and work orders in an accurate and timely manner.
4. Work closely with the Lead Maintenance Technician to ensure discrepancies/violations are resolved accurately and in a timely manner.
5. Assist with On-Call emergencies on a rotating basis.
6. Adhere to the established safety rules of the Facility Maintenance Department.
7. Maintain an orderly and safe work area.
8. Perform other duties associated with the Facility Maintenance Department as assigned.
9. Responsible for adhering to Babcock Center published procedures and policies.
10. Participate in meetings and programs as directed by the Support Services Manager or Director.
Typical Physical Demands:
Sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, working in confined space, frequent lifting and manual dexterity sufficient to perform duties associated with the position of the Maintenance Technician. Must have normal range of hearing and vision.
Typical Mental Demands:
Must be able to deal with stress associated with a fast-paced work environment and multi-tasking. Adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas. Communicate with various personalities at all levels. Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information.
Hazards/Potential Hazards:
Potential working hazards such as: climbing, lifting, pulling, cold/heat stress, compressed gases, confined spaces, tools, machinery and electrical components. Potential toxic hazards such as: carbon monoxide,
adhesives/paints, refrigerants, solvents, hazardous waste and water treatment chemicals.
