SCS is seeking a Network and Systems Administrator to join our team. This role will focus heavily on managing and securing our clients' network and firewall infrastructure utilizing Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Cisco solutions. You will also provide supplemental system administration support to SCS and clients. Position Overview: Network and System Administrator
This position fulfills dual roles with a primary focus on Network and Firewall Administration duties including:
- Monitoring, managing, and optimizing Fortinet, Palo Alto and Cisco firewall policies, rules and configurations
- Performing network administration tasks such as managing routers, switches, VPNs, VLANs, network segmentation
- Evaluating network security controls and implementing improvements
- Assisting with Azure Solution migrations and management
- Troubleshooting network issues like outages, latency, connectivity problems
- Deploying new firewalls, switches, network devices and connections
- The role also encompasses supplemental System Administration responsibilities like providing routine support tasks to SCS clients based on their specific needs and protocols.
This position requires willingness to work various shifts with routine work operations being handled Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm, and may also require some after-hours on-call support, typically planned in advance, which can be executed remotely.
Job Duties
- Manage Fortinet, Palo Alto and Cisco firewall policies, rules, objects, and configurations
- Segment and isolate networks and create DMZs to limit access
- Configure and manage VPN tunnels and remote access capabilities
- Perform network administration tasks such as adding/configuring network devices, managing routers, switches, load balancers etc.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain optimal uptime
- Deploy new firewalls, routers, switches and other network devices
- Evaluate network security controls and address vulnerabilities to protect systems
- Provide supplemental system administration tasks on servers, workstations etc. as needed
- Achieve and maintain technical certifications such as Fortinet NSE 4
- Be willing to gain Azure Administration Certifications and assist with migrations
- Stay current with network security best practices and technologies
- Monitor and manage client firewall policies, rules, and configurations
- Perform network administration tasks such as managing routers, switches, VPNs, network segmentation, etc.
- Evaluate network security and performance and implement improvements
- Troubleshoot network issues and outages
- Support system administration tasks on servers, workstations, applications etc. as assigned
- Manage all customer situations in a professional manner with emphasis on customer satisfaction.
- Assess threats, vulnerabilities and risks. Advise clients on appropriate actions to mitigate risk. Implement solutions, patches and upgrades to Client information systems to minimize exposure to threats and vulnerabilities.
- Conduct system administration tasks in client computing environments, as assigned by the client and the SCS Chief Technical Officer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (or the equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or Telecommunications, and 3+ years of data center and customer support experience.
- 3+ years managing Fortinet, Palo Alto and/or Cisco enterprise firewalls
- Hands-on experience with routers, switches, VPNs, VLANs and network segmentation
- Knowledge of networking protocols like TCP/IP, DHCP, NAT, HTTP etc.
- Industry certifications such as Fortinet NSE 1-4, CCNA, CCNP
- Prior Fortinet Network management experience or work in an enterprise maintaining networks across multiple locations.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with technologies including but not limited to; VMWare, Networking, Linux administration and Windows Administration desirable.
- Familiarity with system administration for Windows and Linux servers
- Strong troubleshooting skills for networks, servers and other systems
- Excellence verbal and written communication abilities
- Professionalism and strong customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced 24/7 operations environment
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in a priority manner
- Experience working with trouble ticketing systems
- Understanding of SNMP and log-based monitoring
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
