The GIS Programmer/Analyst plays an important role in the utility by planning and designing and implementing programs, developing documents, and maintaining MW&L’s Geographic Information System (GIS) applications and computerized systems. Close work with other Engineering and Operations staff is essential. It is also important to train staff, to geo-enable them with the equipment and applications they need to do their jobs.
Accuracy, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field with specific GIS coursework and/or training.
- Four years of progressively responsible experience in a GIS professional or closely related position.
- An equivalent combination of experience and education may qualify.
Special Requirements
- Driver’s license valid in Oregon, with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced computer and technical skills to operate software including NISC iVUE modules, SCADA, OMS, GIS (ESRI), MS SQL, and Business Intelligence Software.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in utility or municipal engineering.
