The Children’s Clinic (TCC) has an immediate opening for a dynamic and self-motivated Assistant Director of Behavioral Health to handle the mental health clinical operations for all TCC clinic sites, located in the most underserved areas of greater Long Beach.
This role will act as a liaison to social service agencies and the mental health community while maintaining the high standard of care the community expects from TCC. It will also integrate behavioral health with primary care services and provide direct patient care as well as guidance regarding mental health policies and procedures to executive management team and the Board of Directors
Primary Functions:
- Foster and maintain the integration of behavioral health and primary care services.
- In conjunction with the Behavioral Health Director, continue to develop financial plans that will ensure the long-term sustainability of the mental health program; leverage resources for mental health. This includes optimizing clinical service for the purposes of billing; application and implementation of grant programs; and other fundraising efforts.
- Assist the Director of Behavioral Health in implementing training programs for medical providers, Behavioral Health staff, and medical support staff in order to promote the integration of behavioral health and primary care services.
- Maintain close working relationship with Chief Medical Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Operations Officer.
- Oversee all operating activities of Behavioral Health services including in the absence of the Director of Behavioral Health.
- Participate in TCC strategic planning activities.
- Provide direct psychological services to TCC Patients.
- Implement and update Behavioral Health screening services and work flows including ACEs/PEARLS, PHQ9, SBIRT, etc.
Qualifications
- Valid license as a Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.
- 5-10 years’ experience in a community clinic or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting.
- At least three years of direct program management and program implementation experience; community-based setting preferred.
- Must have performed clinical supervision for at least two years and have completed BBS or BOP qualifications to provide clinical supervision.
- Knowledge of program development and evaluation.
- Knowledge of multicultural and intergenerational psychology.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer care/service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literacy in word processing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheet programs. Experience with electronic medical records and virtual telehealth is preferred.
Work Environment
This position is an onsite position and will work at multiple clinic site within the greater Long Beach area.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
