The Membership Engagement Associate is a vital member of the Temple staff, dedicated to fostering strong relationships with current and prospective members. This role is responsible for enhancing member engagement, assisting in managing membership accounts, addressing delinquent accounts, and supporting overall community growth and satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be personable, detail-oriented, and passionate about building a welcoming and inclusive synagogue environment. This position will be for 25 -30 hours per week. We are a thriving synagogue with about 700 families in western Monmouth County, NJ.
Key Responsibilities:
- Member Engagement and Retention:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance member engagement and satisfaction.
- Assist the Executive Director with event management
- Conduct regular outreach to new and existing members to understand their needs and interests.
- Assist in serving as a liaison between members and synagogue leadership to address concerns and suggestions.
- Membership Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date membership records in the synagogue's database.
- Process new memberships, renewals, and cancellations in a timely manner.
- Assist in maintaining and producing membership materials, including welcome packets, renewal notices, and event invitations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of membership growth initiatives.
- Delinquent Membership Accounts:
- Assist the Bookkeeper/Assistant to the Executive Director to monitor and manage delinquent membership accounts to ensure timely resolution.
- Communicate with members regarding outstanding dues and payment plans.
- Work with the Finance Department to reconcile accounts and maintain accurate financial records.
- Implement strategies to reduce the number of delinquent accounts.
- Community Building:
- Collaborate with various synagogue departments to promote programs and services.
- Facilitate member-to-member connections and support the formation of interest groups and committees.
- Encourage member participation in volunteer opportunities and leadership roles.
- Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and other staff as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other communications.
- Handle member inquiries via phone, email, and in-person with professionalism and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in membership management, customer service, or community engagement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with membership database software, and Canva is helpful.
- Knowledge of Jewish customs, traditions, and values is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
