Position Summary
As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will be a member of the hardware engineering team, tasked with designing, developing, and supporting electrical systems and products. Your role will encompass defining product specifications, designing schematics and PCB layout, validating prototypes, and supporting manufacturing processes. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Operations team to support our contract manufacturers with test equipment, build procedures and BOMs. This position will report to the Director of Hardware Engineering.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Collaborate with the NDSL team to write product design specifications and propose solutions.
· Improve NDSL’s electrical systems, products, components, and applications through thorough research and applying expertise in electricity and materials.
· Responsible for new product development and support for existing products.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, define, and resolve developmental challenges.
· Engage in hardware, firmware, and test software design.
· Build prototypes, conduct product testing, and validate designs to ensure meeting specifications.
· Maintain meticulous documentation of product design and developmental activities according to company policy.
· Perform root cause analysis on product issues reported from field usage, field trials, manufacturing experiences, and internal tests. Share findings with the team and make recommendations for design improvement.
· Evaluate new and emerging technologies and make recommendations for integration into product development.
Qualifications, Education and Experience Guideline
· 5+ years of overall experience or Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronics engineering
· 5+ years of direct electrical/electronics engineering experience
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Motivated self-starter, with a keen ability for problem-solving
· Proficient in developing datasheets, work instructions, and technical drawings.
· Firm understanding of hardware and firmware development processes.
· Experience in design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost reduction
· Expertise in analog and microcontroller circuits
· Expertise in CAD software for schematic capture and PCB layout (Mentor Graphics PADS is a plus)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
