Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the daily operations within the assigned department. Duties include, but are not limited to ensuring that all lead associates are properly trained and have a full understanding of the processes they are involved in, record and inventory maintenance, meeting HACCP requirements, ensure FDA and GMP compliance, and planning and communication with other departments.
- Communicate/Coordinate/Supervise department’s daily objectives.
- Train, monitor and enforce safety rules and regulation.
- Actively participate in improving workplace environment; employee safety, food safety, sanitation, process efficiency, and food quality.
- Train lead persons in all job requirements including supervisory responsibilities.
- Ensure that all employees in the department are trained and understand the process.
- Confers with Management and employees on departmental problems, and recommends changes or work practices to improve department standards.
- Compiles required reports.
- Documents steps taken to resolve deficiencies.
- Completes daily and overtime timesheets. Work with management with vacation schedules.
- Ensures that employees adhere to company policies and work rules.
- Conducts employee evaluations as scheduled.
- Conducts disciplinary actions of department employees in coordination with the Human Resources Department.
- Operate and train employees on various manufacturing equipment.
- Participate, train, and supervise mid-shift cleaning.Coordinate shift transfer to following shift, and receiving previous shift information.
- Represents Department at company meetings, functions and/or activities.
Qualification:
- Three (3) to five (5) years related experience in food industry, with a minimum of two (2) in a supervisory role where responsibility was maintained to ensure employees are fully trained and have a complete understanding for the process in which they are functioning.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook. Working knowledge with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of USDA regulations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Read and write in English.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, in refrigerated environment as well as in cooking areas.
Working conditions/Physical requirements:
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to walk/stand for long periods of time.
- Reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather).
- Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
