SUMMARY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Performs any and all labor related to harvest, such as hand harvest, line cleaning, gathering harvested bags, and other tasks as required. Work may include use of ATV’s, UTV’s, and other power equipment. Work will not extend beyond harvest season, except in the case of an emergency.

The following duties are typical for the Harvest Laborer - Seasonal position. Incumbents may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address operational needs and changing business practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS:

Stoops, squats, or kneels to harvest nuts by hand

Hand harvests nuts by putting nuts into a bucket

Empties filled bucket into bags or other large receptacles
-
May rake nuts from under trees into piles
-
Rake/Clean debris from a harvest row
-
Removes rocks, branches, etc., in field preparation for mechanical ground harvesting operations

Assists in loading hand harvesting macadamia nuts bags into pick-up or trailers
-
Sorting (such as in the husking plant)

Complies with all safety rules and regulations established for the protection of employees and equipment

Responsible for keeping company property clean, including orchard and other work areas; this includes trash disposal (from self or found items) in all areas of the operation

Performs other duties as assigned or required

Work is typically performed in the outdoors/orchard fields in a variety of weather conditions

May be exposed to adverse conditions such as loud noise, dirt, rain, and heat.

Works around plants, dirt, chemicals, and water in fields

Work hours are subject to change, with weekend and/or holiday work as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Stamina: Able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel and squat for extended periods of time

Strength: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over an extended period; must be physically capable of performing required duties

Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination needed for farm work

Focus: Light mental and visual attention required in the performance of duties
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, & Professional Association):
Any combination of education, experience, skills, and/or abilities that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Willing and able to work with and around pesticides and herbicides

Able to use and adhere to rules regarding the use of protective equipment

Have good judgement in the completion of tasks that require thinking and discernment

Clearance to work in the U.S.
Preferred –

3 years’ experience working in farming fields
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Be able to carry out simple instructions under close direction/minimal direction to perform repetitive tasks which require only rough manual skills using simple hand tools

Be able to work independently

Be able to multi-task

Can analyze conditions and follow instructions

Can meet and maintain minimum nut harvesting quota/pounds gathered requirement, when hand harvest is performed

Able to record daily duties, including hours worked, area covered, and maintenance required

Able to work independently

Harvest Laborer work will be seasonal; work will not extend into the off-season.

Responsible for keeping company property clean, including orchard and other work areas; this includes trash disposal (from self or found items) in all areas of the operation
