USM is a fast-growing, privately-owned, well-established, busy and profitable aerial lift (re)rental company. We seek a skilled, very-experienced and self-motivated telescopic boom mechanic to repair and perform preventive maintenance on aerial lift equipment (large articulating booms, compact crawlers, and heavy-capacity telehandlers). This position requires significant travel. The position is based in-between Phoenix & Las Vegas.
Our organization has a lot of equipment “on” and “off” rent in the Southwest; we search for a special individual to help us keep the equipment fleet running smoothly & safely so that we may best maximize its utilization by our customers (large equipment rental yards). Our equipment includes very large boom lifts, heavy-capacity & rotational telehandlers, and atrium/crawler booms. USM is also the exclusive North American distributor of the Falcon Spider Lift.
We are growing! High demand for quality rental equipment spurs our active search for a new remote technician/mechanic to travel to equipment yards to repair and perform preventive maintenance on (USM-owned) aerial lifts and articulating booms, etc. so that these assets may again be rented out by the equipment yards. Expected travel is 90% - 100% Monday - Friday, mostly regional, and mostly by vehicle.
Responsibilities:
Working independently (remotely covering the southwest region), and with the support & direction of a USM ReRents Fleet Service Manager (in Chicago), your duties will include:
· Traveling to various customer locations to diagnose, repair and service poorly-functioning or damaged equipment
· Performing annual inspections on Falcon Lifts and on USM ReRents fleet
· Engaging in hydraulic, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
· Creating accurate repair lists with the assistance of a fleet service manager
· Performing initial repair inspections and operational tests of equipment
· Completing on-going continued training (aerial equipment manufacturers include Genie, JLG, Skyjack, Dieci, Teupen, Magni, Mec, Falcon, etc.)
Qualifications:
At a minimum, job candidates must possess:
- Four (4) year’s aerial construction equipment repair experience, including experience servicing larger (80 - 180 ft) booms.
- Proven ability to manage one’s time & travel schedule (be accountable & reliable)
- An intermediate to advanced level of hydraulics, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge; understanding of gas & diesel engines and electric motors
- A valid drivers’ license (and a good driving record)
- A strong work ethic and a positive attitude
- A willingness to learn & grow their skills, and to apply technical training to real-world equipment situations
- The ability to work in a safe manner
- Demonstrated abilities to be organized, independently productive, and dependable
- A consistency in producing quality workmanship.
- The computer skills to effectively enter & transmit data, to download and repair manuals & schematics, and to open & respond to e-mail.
Preferred candidates will possess:
· Construction equipment (or rental) industry experience
- Knowledge of aerial/construction equipment, their application and safe use
- Previous factory/manufacturer training and/or certification
- Communication skills – the ability to positively interact with customers and to update (and partner with) your Fleet Service Manager
