A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a new Controller to join their growing team. In this role, the Controller will be responsible for managing all financial functions as well as leading the day-to-day management of all accounting functions, including disbursements, receipts, payroll processing, reconciliations, etc.
Responsibilities:
The Controller will:

Oversee the monthly and annual fiscal closing process, including the preparation of all general ledger account analyses, journal entries and adjustments

Actively manage cash flow; forecast disbursements and direct follow-up on delinquent collections and outstanding donor pledges

Produce the monthly internal financial statements and ensure timely payments to vendors

Prepare the Annual Financials and assist in the preparation of the 990

Coordinate (with process owners) the corrective action plans related to findings and recommendations (if any) resulting from the organization's annual audit.

Monitor and updates the company's Finance Policies & Procedures Manual, as needed

Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:

10+ years of Accounting experience

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

Proficiency in GAAP for Nonprofit organizations

Experience showing progressive movement, including Controllership

Familiarity with Government Contracting and Revenue Recognition principles

Supervisory experience managing teams of 5 or more members

Deep knowledge of various accounting software

Microsoft Office proficient (Excel, Word, etc.)

Great interpersonal skills

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
