Hamilton Memorial Hospital District has an immediate opening for a Full Time Education Director. At HMHD our mission is to enhance the delivery of healthcare to our community and the surrounding area by providing accessible quality healthcare services. HMHD utilizes the premier electronic medical record system EPIC with My Chart as an amenity for patients and staff.
The Education Director is responsible for oversight and coordination of educational services throughout Hamilton Memorial Hospital District, including integrated and direct nursing education, organizational-wide educational oversight, and patient and family-centered education, with the ability to fulfill long-term educational program requirements. The role involves management, assessment, planning, coordination, collaboration, implementation, and evaluation of clinical and educational activities, including orientation, staff and leadership development and competency assessments.
Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities:
· Works collaboratively to provide opportunities to staff and leaders to develop skills to meet career goals.
· Assesses, maintains, and builds nursing orientation and competency programs.
· Conducts reviews to evaluate educational, skills, and performance needs.
· Designs, develops, and organizes educational materials. Reviews clinical content within education program for accuracy and relevance.
· Assesses and accomplishes closing gaps in patient and community educational needs.
· Perform patient education, as requested by Medical Staff.
· Educate nursing staff on implementation of revised and/or established policies and procedures.
· Uses methods to encourage participation, cooperation, and motivation to learn. Facilitate nursing staff to appreciate individual contribution to delivery of optimal quality patient care.
· Engages staff and other stakeholders in continuous improvement of systems and processes. Manages resources for staff participation in improvement of work activities.
· Coordinates ongoing in-services and educational hands-on skills training.
· Engages in clinical practice to maintain clinical skills and expertise by assisting as needed.
· Actively involved in professional organizations in health care and community services, promoting hospital and community endeavors in health care improvements.
· Ensures integration of ethical standards and core values into everyday work activities.
· Align and manage CE offering strategies and processes relevant to organizational growth.
· Cultivate strong relationships with leaders, subject matter experts, key opinion leaders, and educational partners for the development and promotion of medical education activities.
· Develops and implements innovative systems and processes that improve staff and patient quality and safety.
· Develops and implements academic outcome measures for quality improvement, ongoing curricula evaluation, and implementation of effective simulation and emergency-based educational activities.
· Collaboratively formulates strategies towards meeting measurable outcome measures.
· Recognize your role as part of the QAPI efforts at HMHD.
· Actively listens to staff ideas and concerns. Assesses others’ communication and learning styles, and adapts to them.
· Assists in evaluating the quality of patient care.
· Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
· Incorporates HMHD mission, values, and purpose into goals and educational teachings.
· Support the Just Culture concept and its use to improve patient safety.
· Ensures effective facilitation of improvement teams and the development of leadership skills to ensure overall effectiveness of meetings.
· Collaborate in the overall operation of nursing service activities.
· Plan, organize and utilize available resources to accomplish educational service objectives. Ensures proper scheduling for training sessions, courses, meetings, routine maintenance, scenarios, tours, etc.
· Maintain Learning Management System (LMS) as a system administrator.
· Continually assess services, identify opportunities for improvement, and utilize data to analyze and propose innovative approaches to solutions.
· Maintains related records that are complete, accurate, available, and in compliance with all legal, regulatory, and policy requirements.
· Participates in organizational, project, and client meetings as required.
· Actively participates in assigned committees and/or committee assignments.
· Formulate and implement tools for evaluation and follow-up methods of study.
· Present education and data and communicate information using multiple methods.
· Articulate education, data, information, and ideas in a clear and concise manner.
· Manage allocation, preparation, and monitoring of educational budgets with input from CNO, administration, and accounting.
· Assures Nursing Leadership support for staff by maintaining participation in nursing administration call rotation.
Qualifications:
1. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Illinois regarding professional nursing.
2. Licensing and Certification: Current and good-standing RN licensure with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. Maintains CPR, ACLS, and PALS Instructor certifications-3 months from start date to obtain. Current CPR certification.
3. Training and Experience: Five (5) years’ experience in various phases of clinical nursing practice with some patient and nursing education and administrative experience.

Pay: $28.33 - $40.80 per hour
