Overall Purpose Of The Job
This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide the services outlined below.
The incumbent provides care of the Veterans' medical needs by performing procedures in the areas of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist has the responsibility for providing a wide range of specialized and complex Nuclear Medicine procedures, including emission imaging for diagnostics. This specialty modality requires specific knowledge of cross multiple nuclear medicine examinations. The technologist requires specific knowledge and training in the location, appearance, and function of the various major and minor systems susceptible to nuclear medicine; to interpret the examination request accurately; to understand the functioning and inter-relationship of the various organs; to use the methods and techniques which will identify organs appearing on the digital display monitor, and the various stages of the examination to judge the acceptability of the image and/or scan for diagnostic use and to emphasize the aspects of particular interest to the physician. The incumbent will ensure the most effective delivery of care, while meeting and exceeding compliance, Joint Commission and VA Central Office performance measure standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculate, prepare, assay, and administer radiopharmaceutical doses by injection, inhalation or ingestion as prescribed, which includes the compounding of cold pharmaceutical kits with the required radioactive agent under sterility requirements.
- Prepares radioactive drugs and administers them to patients for imaging or treatment.
- Analyze procedure images for quality and obtain additional images when necessary.
- Recognize potential radiation contamination by visual and mechanical method.
- Records appropriate equipment quality control data, evaluates results, and takes corrective action, when indicated. Maintains records for quality control program and regulatory/accreditation agency review.
- Determines the appropriate sequence for multiple procedure requests and coordinates Nuclear Medicine procedures with other diagnostic procedures or therapy.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Other duties within scope as assigned.
Job Profile
Experience Required:
- Certified in nuclear medicine technology by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (N). NMTCB or ARRT (N) certification.
Education Required:
- Successful completion of a training program for nuclear medicine technicians.
- DEA License
- For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Medical Technician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Current BLS certification. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting to 15 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Must relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.
- Pass a Child abuse and neglect check.
- Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance

Pay: $43.45 - $47.20 per hour
