Rocksmith Geoengineering, LLC is seeking an Entry Level Geologist to add to our St. Louis, Missouri team.
Rocksmith is an employee-owned company based in the St. Louis, Missouri area that provides excellent service to our clients and a great work environment for Engineers, Geologists and Scientists. Rocksmith provides technical services in support of geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, environmental and mining engineering projects throughout the United States. Our St. Louis, Missouri based team currently has a position open for a Geologist trained in the field of geology or hydrogeology, seeking a challenging career with a growth-oriented company. Successful candidates should have an interest in subsurface investigation, hydrogeology, structural geology, earth support structures, dams, tunnels, mine stability, rock mechanics, statistical evaluation, and remediation. Position also requires excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with leadership ability and willingness to travel to project sites as dictated by project demands.
Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
· Under general supervision, collect field data for various projects including rock core logging, downhole hydrogeological testing, groundwater sampling, soil logging and sampling, soil and rock testing, instrumentation, water balance, hydrology and hydraulic studies, environmental evaluation, and other field tasks based on project needs.
· Use of ArcGIS mapping software, AutoCAD, Rocscience, and/or other geologic information systems to develop plans, specifications, evaluate geological information and drawings for projects.
· Prepare detailed site investigation and data summary reports. Includes preparing data and elements such as tables, figures, charts, calculations and illustrations for the interpretation and presentation of data, findings or analyses.
· Ability and willingness to learn new techniques and tasks. Be able to follow instructions, work independently and comply with company and client policies.
· Oversee work of subcontractors.
· Ability and willingness to travel on project assignments as needed.
· Develop cost estimates associated with projects and help prepare client proposals.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Hydrogeology (M.S. Preferred).
· Valid United States Driver's License.
· Authorization to legally work in the United States at time of employment.
· 0 to 3 years’ of relevant post-educational experience.
· Upon completing the required level of experience, be eligible to obtain a Professional Geologist licensure. Current Geologist in Training (GIT) certification is a plus.
· Ability to organize, coordinate and conduct field investigations.
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, SharePoint, etc.
· Willingness to work on a wide variety of projects, performing a variety of tasks, and working schedules that are conducive to project specific requirements as needed.
· Strong communication, analytical, and technical writing skills.
· Takes ownership in work products including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness of work products.
· Organized and able to efficiently prioritize work to meet project schedules in a dynamic work environment.
· Ability to work as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision to meet project objectives.
· Safety conscience worker, who can meet the health, safety, security, and environmental policies and requirements of our company and clients.
· OSHA HAZWOPER and MSHA Part 46/48 Surface and Underground Mine training are preferred.
