AVP Distillery Finance
The AVP Distillery Finance is responsible for the accounting, reporting and planning functions of Stockwell’s portfolio distilleries. Partnering with distillery and Stockwell stakeholders, the AVP Distillery Finance helps to provide the financial leadership necessary to deliver short and long-term objectives. The role involves transaction recording, reporting, production cost monitoring, budgeting and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role is based at our corporate headquarters located at 810 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and present financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with auditors during financial audits and implement audit recommendations
- Collaborate with tax accountants to ensure timely filings and to take advantage of any available tax incentives
- Oversee and approve monthly reporting package for intercompany reconciliation process
- Oversee submission of Monthly Capex and Maturing Inventory to parent company
- Lead ongoing integration with parent company
Accounting & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP), tax regulations, and internal control procedures
- Maintain documentation of accounting / finance policies and procedures
- Ensure all accounting transactions are recorded and perform account reconciliations required to meet periodic reporting timelines
- Lead month-end closing, prepare and review journal entries, analyze inventory evaluation, and perform required monthly reporting
- Assess and control accounts receivable and payable master data and ledgers
Cost Analysis and Control
- Maintain SKU unit costs and related master data
- Monitor and report on variances between actual costs and budgeted costs
- Support master distillers and VP Operations in analyzing production costs and identifying opportunities for cost reduction and recommend process improvements to optimize efficiency
- Refine current KPIs to drive consistent performance, accountability and cost cutting if necessary
- Collaborate with procurement teams to negotiate favorable contracts with suppliers
- Evaluate vendor performance and assess the financial impact of supplier relationships
Inventory
- Support master distillers and VP Operations in periodic inventory reconciliations, assessment of adequate inventory levels, and implementation of optimization strategies
- Implement standard costing templates and ensure GAAP valuation of inventory on financial statements
Treasury and CAPEX
- Assist in evaluating capital expenditure proposals and return on investment analysis
- Enable cashflow and balance sheet forecasting and alignment
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop annual distillery site budgets
- Prepare and maintain rolling forecasts to provide insights into future financial performance
- Monitor actual performance against budget and forecasts, providing regular updates and analysis
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making related to distillery site management
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
Knowledge & experience
- Requires bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA and/or CMA preferred
- 5+ years of experience as a controller in a distillery or brewery
- Knowledgeable of accounting best practices appropriate for a midsized multi-state business
- Understanding of GAAP as applied in a distillery environment
- Familiar with distilling processes, taxation, products and business environment
Skills
- Highly competent in executing periodic financial close and reporting processes
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel to include advanced analytical, data and automation functions
- Expert proficiency with QuickBooks Online to include configuration, master data, report design and integration with third party applications
- Team level proficiency in ERP selection and implementation skills
- Ability to diagram processes and identify appropriate control points to support development of accounting and business policies and procedures
- Expert level business and financial report preparation suitable for external and internal audiences
- Written skills consistent with professional business communications
- Above average proficiency in other Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint)
- Ability to calculate product costs and profitability at all levels of the value chain

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary range $150,000 - $175,000 plus 20% discretionary bonus potential
