Collections Attorney

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to
- Represent organization in recovering owed debts
- Develop effective collection strategies and negotiate settlements with debtors
- Draft and file collection letters, lawsuits, and other legal documents
- Represent organization in court proceedings related to debt collection
- Familiar with liens and garnishments
- Ensure all collection activities comply with applicable regulations
- Manages collection accounts
- Follow up with collection team on the payment status of negotiated balances
- Confirms all payments received are the correct negotiated amounts
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in collections law
- J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and Ohio state bar membership in good standing are required.
- Strong drafting skills, including the ability to fine tune existing templates
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential matters and information
- Ability to maintain a heavy caseload
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills (both oral and written) are a must.
- Able to travel approximately 10% of the time
- Proficient in legal research and case management software
- Advanced MS Office Suite skills required; able to adapt quickly to various other computer programs/systems

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
