Canyon View Capital (CVC) is seeking the right motivated individual to join our team in the Property Accountant position. The Property Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate maintenance of daily financial activity, cash management, general ledger activity and preparing monthly financial statements for a real estate portfolio of anywhere between 10-20 properties. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, exceptional attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Bank / Cash Management:
- Checking and verification of daily bank activity to mitigate fraudulent activity. Record cash entries as needed.
- Work with property managers and/or the bank to resolve issues with deposits or bank adjustments, etc.
- Monthly bank statement reconciliations.
- Research and follow up and correction of outstanding cash items.
General Ledger Maintenance:
- Prepare monthly mortgage journal entries.
- Review and prepare expense allocations.
- Review and prepare expense reclassifications.
- Review and prepare monthly accruals and prepaids.
- Review loan activity and prepare entries as needed.
- Review utilities closely and research as needed.
- Maintain monthly recurring entries as directed by management.
- Reconciliation and understanding of balance sheet accounts as directed by management.
- Be able to identify duplicate payments and resolve.
- Monitor and review GL coding for accuracy and notify necessary parties as needed.
Intercompany Transactions:
- Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions between different entities and record entries as needed.
- Ensure proper documentation and accounting treatment for intercompany charges and allocations.
- Report intercompany discrepancies to management.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly financials for property managers and provide comments on variances and/or other unusual and large items for upper managements review.
- Maintain quarterly balance sheet reconciliation schedules.
- Prepare quarterly and annual lender requests for financial information.
- Communicate with lenders as directed by management and provide timely responses to financial reporting inquiries.
- Prepare quarterly TIC financial reporting packages to direct supervisor for final review.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour
