We are seeking an Energy and Sustainability Specialist with strong decision-making skills to lead, evolve, and manage our energy program, focusing on executing internal operations related to energy and waste initiatives. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to manage energy consumption, conducting sustainability assessments, and working closely with various departments to ensure that sustainability goals are met. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy management practices, as well as excellent project management and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze energy bills for all US operations to ensure they are aligned with the contracts.
- Record energy data in the company energy management tool.
- Assist in negotiating energy supply contracts and hedging in line with Group strategy, policies, and standards, ensuring energy source procurement and optimizing supply costs and quality.
- Monitor and analyze energy consumption data, prepare detailed reports, and provide recommendations for senior management.
- Analyze energy markets, monitor factors influencing the purchasing process, and stay current on regulatory obligations and laws concerning energy.
- Identify and develop KPIs in energy consumption to share with the operations and capital project team to seek areas of improvement.
- Create and execute comprehensive energy management analyses.
- Conduct energy audits to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance energy efficiency.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in energy management and recommend innovative solutions to improve our practices.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on sustainability practices and the importance of energy conservation.
- Support sustainability programs focusing on waste reduction, resource conservation, and sustainable sourcing.
- Prepare and submit environmental sustainability reports to stakeholders and regulatory bodies in collaboration with other departments.
- Conduct benchmarking analyses to evaluate our performance relative to competitors.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives and foster a culture of environmental responsibility.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Team & Communications Department to create and distribute texts and data supporting the team's communication strategy, both internally and externally.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure the sourcing of sustainable materials and services.
- Represent the company's sustainability policies to organizations, producer associations, clients, the media, and other Sofidel America stakeholders.
- Collaborate in the search for new partnerships with external parties to help achieve the company's sustainability goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Energy Management, Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Engineering, Energy, and Sustainability.
- Proficiency in energy management software and sustainability reporting tools.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders, present to executive teams, and provide training support.
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects, including planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Relevant certifications such as LEED, CEM (Certified Energy Manager), or PMP (Project Management Professional) are a plus.
- Self-starter with strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Some travel is required.
