Responsibilities:
- Perform complex accounting duties following MPUA’s and external accounting principles and practices.
- Compile and analyze financial information for preparation of monthly billing templates and calculations of natural gas and energy invoices.
- Interface with related Market Operation’s Energy Analysts in development of energy transactions, processes, and controls, including RTO transactions and settlement activities.
- Identify and research abnormalities and variances in reporting of YTY and YTD financials.
- Balance complex accounts and provide interpretation of accounts, methods, and records for internal departmental staff and external MPUA stakeholders.
- Prepare workpapers, confirmations, and participate in budget and audit preparation.
- Develop, issue, and evaluate RFPs and negotiate contracts for goods and services.
- Review and process account receivable and payable invoices, prepare journal entries and record transactions into the general ledger.
- Process bi-weekly payroll and subsequent Federal and State filings.
- Prepare, maintain, and analyze financial statements and departmental budgetary appropriations
- Calculate dues and collect necessary data from members.
- Keep abreast of relevant profession, industry, and inter utility developments.
- Participate in implementation of new accounting systems or related projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with emphasis in accounting or finance required.
- Four to six years of public utility accounting and finance functions related experience required.
- Two years' experience in payroll processing and related reporting requirements preferred. Multi-state payroll experience a plus.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job duties and responsibilities.
