About Harris County Flood Control District:
The Flood Control District has the mission to reduce the risk of flooding in Harris County, the third most populated county in the United States, with a population in excess of 4.7 million, including the City of Houston, the nation’s fourth largest city. The Flood Control District has jurisdiction over the primary stormwater facilities in the county, which consist of approximately 1,500 channels totaling nearly 2,500 miles in length, as well as more than 60 regional stormwater detention basins, totaling more than 10,000 acres and several wetlands mitigation banks including Greens bayou.
What you will do at Harris County Flood Control District:
Harris County Flood Control District is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Field Data Collector.
This position is responsible for identifying and documenting physical conditions and features of channels and other District facilities for the Geographic Information Services (GIS) Department in accordance with the District’s mission to maintain the Infrastructure.
Essential Functions and Duties:

Identify and document the condition of the District’s assets using hand-held computers, GPS equipment, and digital cameras.

Create GIS data required for asset assessment in the field.

Update asset data in the District's GIS databases.

Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

Education:

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Experience:
-
Two (2) years of experience using GIS products, equipment, mapping, and computer-aided design.

Experience with Esri’s GIS software including ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcMap.
"GIS-related coursework may substitute for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis."
Licensure:-
Valid Class "C" Texas Driver’s License
Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:-
Excellent organizational skills.

Can work independently with limited supervision.

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and/or assignments.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with Esri Software including Field Maps, ArcMap, and ArcGIS Pro.

Must be able to drive an ATV.
