About the Role

We are currently on the lookout to find fun-loving, enthusiastic individuals to join our Prep Cook Team!
As a part-time Team Merlin Prep Cook, you will prepare, cook, and plate both hot and cold foods, assist with the set-up and tear-down of all back of house operations, and will ensure the high standard of cleanliness and safety anticipated by our guests at this Gateway location.
Responsibilities:

Prepares and stocks any mise en place for the upcoming shift.

Is responsible for operation of kitchen station, producing parts or whole of both hot and cold meals during service hours.

Possesses a good working knowledge of the entire menu and works closely with other team members to ensure that all food is prepared and ready for service in a timely manner.

Guarantees cleanliness in the restaurants, following company and sanitation standards.

Ensures all recipes, food preparation, and presentation meet department specifications and commitment to quality, as set out in the Food Specification Manuals and recipes.

Maintains a high standard of food quality while delivering cost effective results to minimize waste.

Reports and assist in the management or any equipment failure or potential safety hazards as appropriate.

Always ensures compliance with SOP and general kitchen standards.

Attend operational meetings as required and effectively cascade information to the extended kitchen team, executing assigned projects as needed.

Check fridges and storage units daily to ensure proper rotation and storage standards, maintain control of food wastage and cost control standards, and ensure kitchen staff is knowledgeable and compliant with OSHA, HACCP, and Environmental Health Department guidelines.

Assists in the cleaning and closing of all kitchens and back of house operation and equipment at the end of shift or service.

Responsibility to ensure compliance of Health, Safety & Security within the workplace, including COVID-19 policies, practices, and regulations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 1-2 years of progressive experience in Food & Beverage production, with preference given to those with experience in a themed environment.

Experience, passion, and knowledge for cooking and delivering quality food.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as recipes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Fun, dynamic, and friendly personality.

Excellent communication, listening, and motivational skills.

Hospitable nature with a desire to give service of the highest possible level.

Able to work in areas with loud noises and confined spaces.
-
Self-motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team.

Must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Ability to stand and walk for prolonged hours and interact with guests and employees in a fast-paced, multitask environment in variable temperatures and weather conditions.

Ability to life and carry up to 50 pounds, manual dexterity in using equipment and tools, and ability to reach, bend, stoop and climb stairs as needed.

Must be able to pass a Food Handler and Alcohol Awareness Exam within 30-days of employment.
