The Town of Chatham, MA seeks a knowledgeable professional to fill the position of Assistant Conservation Agent within the Department of Natural Resources.
Under general direction of the Conservation Agent, this position assists with all aspects of technical and administrative work for municipal conservation land management and enforcement of the Wetlands Protection Act including patrolling conservation lands to enforce applicable statutes, bylaws, directives and regulations, development of management plans, grant preparation, project oversight, and working with contractors and volunteers on land management projects.
The Assistant Conservation Agent provides staff support for the Conservation Commission and may attend Commission meetings in collaboration with, or in the absence of, the Conservation Agent and assists in representing the Town in matters pertaining to the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Chatham Wetlands Protection Bylaw.
This benefits and pension eligible position is 40 hours per week and is covered under the Chatham Municipal Employees Association. Starting biweekly salary is $2,710.40 - $2,764.80 ($70,470.40 - $73,320.00 annually, effective 7/1/24) depending on qualifications and experience.
