We are seeking a Surgery Scheduler to join our team. As a Surgery Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the surgery process for both providers and patients.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical office setting and possess strong organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Duties include but are not limited to booking patients for preop and surgery appointments.
- Coordinating and following up on laboratory and imaging tests.
- Communicating with families over telephone/email, record keeping and filing.
- Explain pre-procedure instructions and expectations to patients.
- Receives and processes request for surgical procedures and coordinates with physicians & facilities.
- Manages surgical schedule – identifying errors or conflicts, assigning extra cases, adjusting schedule, confirms final booking assignments and to optimize surgery blocks.
- Works closely with all facility scheduling teams, including regularly scheduled updates and face to face meetings.
- Accommodates Doctor/patient preferences within specified time frame and guidelines of the procedure order.
- Work with our billing department to ensure appropriate payments/collections pre- and post-surgery.
- Determines appointment priority and schedules patients using assigned electronic scheduling application/systems.
- Communicates and collaborates with physicians and medical assistants.
- Ensures all required documentation is provided and prepares patient charts in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Experience:
- Previous OB/GYN surgery scheduling experience a plus
- Previous experience in a medical office preferred
-Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient privacy
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
