The Job and what is Involved in Baker role:
- The role is to cook and bake a variety or items throughout the morning and meeting the demand through the shift. It is essential that we have certain products available at required times of high quality and freshly prepared. This role is an evolving one that can grow in importance as the need for more home baked goods is a key strategy for the future. A set schedule will be set for baking requirements which are the responsibility of the Café Baker to make. You will be trained to make French crepes and Belgian Waffles to meet our recipes. Daily inventories will need to be completed and shared with the manager for ordering . Kitchen hygiene and food safety rules will need to be adhered to . You will be part of the larger team and receive an equal share of the tips whilst you are on the clock. There will be Opportunity to learn the barista role and espresso making if desired. If you are interested in this role we can train you . A basic understanding of baking or cooking is required.
General Duties Are
Cooking/ Baking to meet orders placed by General ManagerKeeping up with and monitoring additional demand throughout the morning You will need to complete daily inventory and share with the manager for ordering, reprint any immediate product shortages or quality issues. Reporting any equipment issues or concerns Daily stock rotation we as check product dates and hygiene in the kitchen. Carry out corrective actions if required. • Ensure the kitchen are and equipment is well maintained and meets cleanliness requirements set by the federal and State laws ( training and manuals will be provided )
- Monitor food in the café area to ensure hygiene, storage, shelf life is maximized but not serving goods past the best dates•Keeping the cooking space/ kitchen in compliance with required code and hygiene standards• Ordering supplies with relevant personnel to ensure we do not run out of stock During their shift there maybe a need for top up baking at busy times, flexibility is required. • Keeping the Café in a clean and in the hygiene standards required• Educating staff about the home baked products and providing the ingredients list for the operations manual• Monitoring food best before dates and making sure all of our food meets a high standard in line with the business• Actively working on ingredients cost reduction with the CM and reducing food waste• Generating cost pricing for all home baked goods• Variety of duties as assigned• Ensure the kitchen are and equipment is well maintained and meets cleanliness requirements set by the federal and State laws
Personal Attributes
- Previous kitchen experience preferred but not essential.You will need to be able to work in a fast pace environment when required Ability to be flexible with roles within you shift • You must be a “peoples” person and be able to communicate verbally in English.• Team work is required in the busy times as you will be serving a large number of customers per hour.• You need to show Commitment and honesty• You must be Punctual and reliable• You need to operate well under pressure as a barista, you'll need to make beverages in a fast paced environment by following the standard recipes.• You'll need to be able multi-task and be able to get it right the first time.• You will be able to work standing for long periods in what can be a hot, noisy busy but fun environment.• You must show high standards of hygiene are important when working with food and drink, and baristas need to be especially careful when working with hot liquids.
