This is a part-time position. Employee will be responsible for operating power and hand tools to limb up trees; remove small trees, bushes and other vegetation; move cut vegetation to a chipper and feed vegetation into the chipper. This position may also involve participation in pile and broadcast burning. The work schedule is 10-hour days, 2-3 days per week. Each day starts and ends at the Geyserville Fire Station with transportation provided to the work site.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old at the time of employment, valid driver’s license, and high school diploma or equivalent.
Highly Desirable Qualifications: Experience operating chainsaws, hand tools, and chipper; Experience as a volunteer, part-time, and/or full-time at the fire fighter or higher rank; Forestry or natural resources education and/or related experience. Wildland fire ecology, use, and management experience and education, including understanding wildland fuel loading, wildland fire effects, and wildland fire monitoring. Other desirable qualifications include S-130, S-190, ICS-100, L-180, and IS-700.
Physical Requirements: This position requires frequent lifting and/or moving of heavy objects. Strength, stamina, and agility are necessary to hike steep, uneven terrain while carrying equipment. Work is performed primarily in wildland settings in all weather conditions.
Selection Process: The selection process will include one or more of the following components: application review, oral interview, physical fitness test, and background check.
