Environmental Justice Project Research Assistant—
Duties : Gather and analyze baseline data and statistics on aviation-related air and noise pollution and community health through a variety of strategies including air and noise monitoring sensors installed across the community. Do a meta analysis of existing literature regarding aviation-related air and noise pollution, including governmental/agency reports on air, noise and health conditions in Southeast Queens neighborhoods; Involve and report to community volunteers/stakeholders network teams on the accomplishment of tasks and findings. Prepare research and other grant-related reports based on findings and a review of the literature; Make recommendations regarding other kinds of data that may need to be collected for reports; Help organize and implement community forums, summits, on project findings;
Where : Southeast Queens.
Qualifications : Graduate Student or Undergraduate Senior with major or equivalent in environmental science, chemistry, environmental engineering and/or related fields along with strong desire to work with a variety of people. Course work in Statistics and GIS a plus. Must have strong investigative, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and high level of self-motivation, enthusiasm, and initiative. Internship must be university/college sanctioned.
Stipend : $20.00 per hr.
