Enterprise data architects are responsible for translating the vision and strategy of a business into effective operational planning and execution. As an Enterprise Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing data strategies that support our business objectives and drive innovation. You will play a crucial role in defining the structure, integration, and management of data across our teams, ensuring consistency, security, and accessibility. This position requires a deep understanding of environmental data architecture principles, technology trends, and business requirements to develop scalable and efficient solutions that optimize data assets and enable data-driven decision-making. You will be challenged to build solutions using various techniques and tools and document these solutions and the technical data architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning: Develop and maintain a comprehensive data management strategy aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Define data architecture principles, standards, and policies to guide data management practices across our various teams and locations. Identify opportunities for leveraging technology and the experience of our valued team members to serve our clients, grow our business and create efficiencies.
Data Integration and Interoperability: Define data integration processes and standards to enable seamless exchange of data between systems and applications. Implement data integration solutions that facilitate interoperability and data consistency across our various teams and locations.
Data Governance and Quality: Establish data governance frameworks and processes to ensure data integrity, consistency, and security. Define data quality standards and implement data quality monitoring and remediation strategies.
Data Security and Privacy: Collaborate with security and compliance teams to implement data security and privacy controls. Ensure that data architectures comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities within existing architectures. Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address these risks and ensure business continuity.
Education and Awareness: Promote awareness and foster a culture of sustainability within the organization. Provide training and educational resources to employees on good data management practices and the introduction of new procedures and technologies.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, operations, and shared services departments to ensure alignment between goals and enterprise architecture. Provide guidance and expertise to support the implementation of data management practices.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of environmental regulations and standards applicable to our industry. Ensure that enterprise architectures adhere to relevant compliance requirements and support reporting and monitoring efforts.
Data Architecture Evaluation: Evaluate emerging data technologies, tools, and platforms to support evolving business requirements. Assess their suitability and impact on the enterprise data architecture and make recommendations for adoption.

Design, develop, and implement projects/programs while ensuring a high level of data quality based on regulatory, industry and client standards.
Manage resources and budgets and lead the development of new services and products.
Develop policies and procedures to support continuous improvement of services and products.
Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
Participate in marketing efforts. Perform relationship building with existing and prospective clients. Assist with preparation of client proposals, as needed.
Travel overnight as required to collaborate with various teams and personnel, attend client meetings, conferences, and events.
Always maintain confidentiality.
Exercise safe work practices by following all company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BS degree or higher in a complimentary environmental science discipline (chemistry, geology, etc.), computer information systems, computer science, data science, or a related field.
10+ years environmental information management experience.
Proven business development experience for large programs/contracts and client relationships supported by repeat business.
Experience with the following software - Enterprise level environmental Data Management systems- EQuIS required, Oracle, MS SQL Server, ESRI products, Hyperion, MS Access, Visual Basic, Microsoft Office Suite; Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.).
Technical background with an emphasis on relational database, GIS and web delivery.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
