MAC Executive Recruiters is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant for our client, in Houston, TX. In this role, they will be responsible for product costing, manufacturing analysis and inventory valuation. This position will support the Controller with validating all financial transactions are in accordance with GAAP, company policy and internal controls framework.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs all Cost Accounting journal entries necessary for month end close activities.
- Validates cost of goods sold and other manufacturing costs.
- Reviews financial statements, by plant, for inaccuracies and inconsistencies.
- Generates key balance sheet account reconciliations monthly.
- Prepares variance analysis related to manufacturing costs, gross margins, inventory, and expenses.
- Reviews labor and overhead costs to update standards, as needed. Compares standard costs to actual production costs.
- Provides management with various monthly reports. For example, comparing price and profitability by product line and/or by plant.
- Prepares financial reporting for internal and corporate customers.
- Reviews and validates cycle counting and physical inventories at various U.S. plant locations.
- Prepares and reviews FIFO, LCM, E&O calculations.
- Compiles cost inputs for monthly forecasts and annual plan.
- Generates inventory roll forwards based on forecasted or planned estimates.
- Estimates new and proposed product costs using FIFO.
- Occasional testing and review of internal or key controls.
- Completes audit schedules required by external and internal auditors.
- Will be required to perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- CMA, MBA, or CPA.
- Minimum of 5 years of Cost Accounting experience
- Solid understanding of GAAP.
- Minimum of 3 years of Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment
- Major ERP systems experience
- Previous experience with Syteline ERP.
- Previous experience with Planful
- Advanced or expert level Excel skills.
- Ability to grasp and retain new concepts quickly.
- Strong organization, attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Able to perform job functions with minimal supervision
- Proven ability to identify areas where process improvements will add value.
- Proven track record of researching and solving problems with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
