Job Title: Fleet Mechanic (Diesel Engine Specialist)
About this Role:
As a Fleet Mechanic specializing in diesel engines, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment in our fleet. This position demands a high level of expertise in diesel engine mechanics along with a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Perform regular maintenance and diagnostic tests on diesel engines and related equipment.
- Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
- Complete detailed reports and maintain records on maintenance and repair work.
- Stay updated with new technology and techniques in diesel engine mechanics.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with the fleet management team to schedule maintenance and optimize vehicle availability.
- Provide emergency on-site repairs as needed.
- Assist in the training of junior mechanics and apprentices.
-Repairs and maintains customer fleet of vehicles
-Perform PMI's on all vehicles, tractors, trailers and other diesel-powered equipment
-Perform all types of engine, brakes, drive train, electrical, and A/C repairs
-Diagnose failures and disassemble, repair, & reassemble parts
-Respond to service calls
-Record all work orders in Electronic Fleet Maintenance System
-Adhere to OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory compliance
-Test drive vehicles under 26,000 GVW
-Must be able to work independently
-Day shift, Monday-Friday
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Vocational training or certification in Diesel Mechanics or a related field.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and software efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Capable of lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with specific brands and models of fleet vehicles (CAT and Mack, GM.
- Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in diesel engine repair or service or similar certifications.
