Job Description
The LGBTQ Counselor provides counseling services and coordination of care for patients and families, utilizing individual, group, and/or family approaches as indicated by need. Provides group counseling to adolescents enrolled in the LGBTQ Live Out Loud Program. Meets minimum qualifications for a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) or Behavioral Health Professional (BHP). Facilitates a minimum of two groups per week in addition to weekly individual and/or family therapy. Maintains a caseload of up to 25 consumers and is responsible for service delivery, which includes: conducting assessments, facilitating, or participating in Child and Family Teams, and providing clinical oversight to teams. Works with consumers to create individualized service plans, implements agreed-upon interventions, and monitors progress toward goal completion in accordance with the Arizona Vision and 12 Principles. Works with the child and family team to prevent and/or appropriately respond to crises and to minimize out-of-home placement. Monitors patient’s level of acuity/need and recommends appropriate level of case management and/or psychiatric services accordingly. Promotes patient/family independence and assists with transition planning.

*** NHSC Loan Repayment Program - awards up to $50,000 in exchange for a two-year commitment to provide primary medical, dental, or mental/behavioral health care at approved sites in high-need, underserved areas. HRSA has removed the two-tier scoring, allowing all applicants to receive up to $50,000 in awards regardless of HPSA score. NHSC LRP recipients are eligible to extend their service and potentially pay off all of their educational debt with continuation contracts.

Qualifications

18 years of age or older; and
-
Master's degree in a counseling-related field is required (professional counseling, marriage, and family therapy, social work, counseling psychology, substance abuse counseling)

Applicant can start within 90 days of graduation with a degree

Must have the skills and knowledge necessary to provide the behavioral health services that the agency is authorized to provide and to meet the unique needs of client populations served by the agency, including children, and meet requirements for a BHT II or BHP.

Must be credentialed within 90 days of hire.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and must be able to execute conflict resolution.

Ability to develop routine reports and correspondence.

Knowledge of Windows 365 environment and/or Electronic Health Records Systems.

Ability to provide culturally sensitive services

Must have or be able to obtain a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance.

Must maintain current BLS certification

Must receive the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine within the first week of the hire date, and the second dose within 8 weeks of the hire date

TB Screening Record and PPD/QuantiFERON/Chest x-ray as applicable upon hire
