Job Summary:
The Low-Voltage/Datacenter Technician must be able to perform the technical responsibilities of cable and/or fiber Installation and function as a member of a technical team. The Low-Voltage/Datacenter technician will coordinate small groups of installers performing daily workloads, including adherence to Company safety and quality standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Our technical career progression consists of four levels. Each level requires a year of dedicated work experience and completion of the requisite training classes upon meeting these requirements and achieving a new level.
Technician 1
- This is the entry-level position in the Meta Datacenter. Technicians at this level learn to work with drawings and complete installations (Cable and Fiber Rough-in, Patch, FIM, Rack & Stack, power cords, terminate cat 6 and Dress). Under the close supervision of an experienced technician.
Technician 2
- This is a well-trained level in the Datacenter. Technicians require proficiency in the full range of activities (use drawings and completing installations, Cable and Fiber Rough-in, Patch, FIM, Rack & Stack, power cords, grounding, powering up equipment, learning, and working on channel tests, break-fix). Duties include using a wide range of fiber and data.
Technician 3
- Is the advanced level in the Datacenter. Technicians at this level independently perform technical troubleshooting, being in the audits/Qc loopback team, diagnosing and repairing various circuits in one or more areas: coordinate with Ens Tactical chat to work with Ens to repair using CABLEGUY, WASUP. Technician 3 is distinguished from the Lead responsible for the report acquisition, deployment, operation, and support of specific technologies within the network Systems division.
Crew Lead
- As a crew leader, you're expected to understand all field tasks from your past experiences thoroughly. Now, as you ascend to a leadership role, you are also responsible for working, managing your crew, and overseeing your designated work area. Your role also includes reporting directly to your Superintendent, ensuring effective communication and efficient operations.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- The Low Voltage/Datacenter Technician must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop, and implement project process improvement(s).
- The Low Voltage/Datacenter Technician must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
- The Low Voltage/Datacenter Technician must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
- The Low Voltage/Datacenter Technician must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read and write.
- The Low Voltage/Datacenter Technician must be able to work at heights, on a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to endure long periods of standing, walking, or working in inclement weather and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to lift and move heavy objects.
- The Low Voltage/Datacenter Technician must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones. The Low Voltage/Datacenter Technician must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
- Regular attendance is mandatory.
- Must have adequate transportation to get to the jobsite.
Tools:
- Screwdriver (regular and Phillips) tape measure (small belt pouches).
- Trade Tools: Snips.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
- Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field and demonstrate the ability to supervise others.
- Must possess and be proficient with the listed tools.
- Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements
