Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a
Digital and Social Media Specialist to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. The qualified candidate will identify, plan, implement, and evaluate Digital and Social Media projects to aid the client in the dissemination of vital public health information through its various communication channels such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Google+, blogs and websites.
What you will do:
- Create social media calendars that align with public health observances and Center priorities
- Managing social media messaging (particularly but not exclusively Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) for various topics, targeted to various audiences.
- Craft suitable, action-oriented messages; editing messages written by SMEs and health communications specialists along best practices.
- Place messages on social media channels using publishing tools such as Sprout Social and Meltwater; monitoring and evaluating messages social media.
- Identifies additional postings (response, correction, clarification, engagement) are needed.
- Participate in and contribute to monthly communication forums and workgroups
- Identifies and champions ideas for content promotion and cross-channel messaging.
- Develop concepts, craft key messages, and write content for digital communications materials optimized for mobile consumption in multiple formats including web and social media communications, fact sheets, special publications, podcasts, webinars, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Identify appropriate images, edit and size for multiple channels and other digital content, add/edit text overlays using Photoshop
- Performs community management (posting, monitoring, archiving, and customer service interactions) for social channels managed by team.
- Develops and implements concepts and plans for social media projects, e.g. special events and health campaigns.
- Compiles and analyzes regular reports on social media impact, engagement, reach and traffic metrics. Provides social media metrics on demand as needed from the customer.
- Review materials available for targeted audiences; in collaboration with CDC staff, assist in the identification of gaps in existing materials addressing specific high risk group needs
- Develops guidelines and best practices for day to day social media activities.
- Researches current social media trends and tools and makes recommendations to the customer to shape future social media projects and channel use.
- Makes recommendations on the most effective social media tools for public health campaigns.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years with BS/BA. Additional years of experience maybe accepted in lieu of the degree
- 2 years of experience in managing social media or traditional communication projects, channels, or campaigns.
- At least a year of experience in the latest social media applications including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Google+, blogs and websites.
- At least a year of experience in social media content development for Facebook and/or Twitter.
- Experience developing and executing project plans and communications strategies.
- Strong research skills with the ability to organize information and present results to the client.
- Attention to detail in developing high quality results.
- Proven ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to deliver a proactive, energetic, and innovative approach to social media channel management.
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in public health communications at the CDC.
- Knowledge/interest in digital media technology and trends.
- Working knowledge of CDC communications standards, policies, and processes, e.g. plain language guidelines and clearance processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Target Salary Range
$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
