Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the accounting department and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting and operations. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, leading a team of accounting professionals, and contributing to strategic financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP.
- Analyze financial data and key performance indicators to provide insights into the company's financial performance, trends, and variances.
- Prepare financial reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
- General Ledger Management:
- Manage the general ledger system and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial transactions and account reconciliations.
- Implement and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with department heads to develop accurate and achievable financial plans.
- Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and identify opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
- Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Coordinate and facilitate external audits and regulatory examinations, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting rules and regulations and communicate potential impacts to management and stakeholders.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster professional growth and development.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, promoting accountability, integrity, and excellence in all aspects of work.
- Lead by example in demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA designation preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or managerial roles.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills. R365 experience a strong plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Experience in the restaurant, FEC industry, or multi-location businesses/multiple business entity management a strong plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $68,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
