Job Summary:
The Network Support position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the company's LAN/WAN network connectivity. This role involves network administration, including security management, user account management, and support for various systems and applications. The Network Support specialist also sets up new computers, peripherals, and controls user access to the network while providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and addressing recurring issues. Additionally, they may undertake special tasks as directed by senior technical leadership. This role provides operational assistance to the Manager of Network Operations and the Security Analyst.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring that the LAN/WAN network connectivity of the company is working properly
- Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office systems and applications support).
- Supports server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications
- Set up new personal computers, laptops, printers and other peripherals.
- Control user access to the network. This includes setting up passwords for individual users and determining which files, programs, or features each person is allowed to use.
- Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, electronically
- Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues
- Research questions using available information resources
- Inform management of recurring problems
- Perform special tasks as directed by the senior technical leadership
- Meet objectives & goals set forth by management
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Networking concepts and technologies (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP)
- Remote access technologies (VPN, terminal services)
- Active Directory administration
- VMWare virtualization
- Exchange administration
- Linus/Unix
- Ability to communicate orally and written in a professional manner.
- Works well both alone or in a team setting.
- Strong analytical skills
Education and Experience:
- Prior experience supporting, implementing and/or administering networks such as Microsoft Windows Active Directory.
- BS Computer Science or related experience equivalent
