Assistant Debate Coach
Flintridge Prep seeks an in-person assistant debate coach, focusing on Public Forum Debate. Our nationally and locally competitive team consists of over 70 students from grades 7-12, participating in all Speech and Debate events. The coach would be responsible for primarily working with debaters whose experience ranges from novice to National and TOC qualified. This is a part-time position.
Primary Responsibilities
The position will report to the Debate Coach. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Able to reliably commute to campus in La Cañada, CA for practices one or two times a week.
- Act as chaperone for the team at local and away tournaments.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with other coaches and student captains to facilitate practices.
- Review and constructively criticize student cases, performances, and work.
- Ability to adapt to and work with a wide variety of student skill levels and types of students to facilitate student growth.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years competitive debate experience in high school and/or college
- 1 or more years of previous coaching experience and/or captain experience
- Comfortable working with students on debate events like Public Forum, Parliamentary, Lincoln Douglas, and Congressional debate.
Pay
Pay is $20-35 hourly, depending on experience and education.
