Professional Management Consulting Services (PMCS) is a fast-growing small business government consulting firm in Washington, DC. We are looking to hire a detail-oriented, self-motivated Staff Accountant/Operations Analyst. This person must be an accountable, organized, detail-oriented problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position will require a degree of “herding cats” to track down personnel to accomplish tasks and ensure action items are being accomplished. This role will be critical for managing people, developing standard operating procedures, and assisting with ensuring financial well-being. The Staff Accountant/Operations Analyst is responsible for evaluating and improving the organization's financial processes, systems, and workflows. This role involves spending 85% of their time analyzing financial data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance financial and operational efficiency and compliance. An additional 15% of the time will be used to provide administrative support to the operations team. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct thorough analysis of financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Generate reports and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
Process Optimization:
- Evaluate existing financial processes and workflows to identify areas for streamlining and automation.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for financial processes and procedures.
- Develop workflows to enhance finance and operational processes.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the development, monitoring, and reporting of budgets and forecasts.
Provide recommendations for optimizing budget allocation.
Financial Systems Management:
- Administer and maintain financial systems and software to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions.
- Prepare and timely invoice all customers using Federal and State government systems as well as PMCS accounting systems.
- Conduct accurate and timely AR and AP processing.
- Conduct 100% accurate payroll processing.
- Utilize our timesheet management system to ensure all timesheets correspond to the corporate timekeeping policy.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues as needed.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
Vendor Management:
- Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to optimize vendor relationships and agreements.
- Review and analyze vendor contracts and invoices.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and distribute regular financial reports to relevant stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments (such as human resources and operations) to ensure seamless financial operations.
