The Strategic Pricing Rates Analyst plays a critical role in achieving CPS Energy’s financial objectives. The successful candidate will contribute to building & maintaining a suite of pricing programs for renewable energy, electric vehicles and resiliency, among others, that achieve customer objectives, meet regulatory requirements and enable growth for CPS Energy. This will include analyzing industry trends, developing program concepts, completing financial analysis, collaboratively shaping and gaining buy-in on these concepts, conducting analysis to create final rates and pricing programs that fully recover CPS Energy’s cost of providing service, and then requesting and receiving approval from company executives, Board of Trustees, and regulators, as needed. Success in this position will be achieved with strong cross-functional collaboration and executive communication skills.

Create pricing plans and rates for new product offerings that ensure appropriate cost recovery and financial performance

Partner broadly across the organization to ensure alignment on pricing and rates with business units (e.g., EIT, Customer, Communications)

Create and deliver product and pricing messaging for critical stakeholders (e.g., executive leadership, Board of Trustees, Public Utility Office, and City of San Antonio leadership) to receive regulatory approval on rates

Execute revenue forecast models in alignment with planning scenario modeling (financial planning, due diligence, resource planning, load forecasting, fuel and regulatory forecasting)

Evaluate bill impacts by customer segment of pricing and revenue forecast scenarios

Incorporate revenue from new solutions into revenue forecasting processes; evaluate and recommend pricing scenarios that achieve revenue targets and meeting planning objectives

Conduct research on market best practices and publish insights to inform rate design and strategic decision making

Conduct ongoing training & development for self and others to ensure skillsets remain current

Experience conducting analyses and developing and implementing recommendations/action plans based on those analyses
Understanding of key financial/accounting concepts including advanced business case analysis
Leadership, consensus building, and collaboration skills
Advanced math skills including algebra and statistics
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; change agent with ability to influence at all levels of an organization
Proven ability to work and collaborate with C-Suite executives

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other related field

Bachelor’s degree in math, finance or related field of study
