JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer evaluates the quality of products and processes and recommends improvements. This role will analyze warranty, yield data, and monitor processes to determine effectiveness to quality standards. The Quality Engineer will create and revise documentation as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
· Maintain quality metrics; review data, analyze trends, and offer solutions to continually improve quality performance.
· Support design by providing insight on historical quality issues, reviewing designs and drawings as needed, supporting design reviews and DFMEA activity.
· Assist in identifying the root causes of problems using appropriate quality tools such as 5Why analysis and Cause and Effect analysis; implement corrective actions to eliminate root cause.
· Communicate with OE customers and facilitate corrective actions as necessary.
· Lead quality auditors and inspectors; provide guidance and training to help grow their independence.
· Provide quality support to the Operations team including inspection analysis, and play a key role of serving as "referee" in making "accept" or "reject" decisions.
· Support the nonconforming product process.
· Contribute to the development, maintenance, and improvements of the Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
· Define the receiving inspection criteria for new and existing parts and products; assist purchasing with supplier issue resolution, First Article approvals and supplier audits as needed.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
· B.S. Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
· 3+ years relevant supplier quality or quality engineering experience
· Strong analytical and statistical skills
· Working knowledge of ISO standards
· Capable of making or leading presentations to all levels of management
· Demonstrated ability to lead/drive process change within manufacturing and engineering environment.
· Advanced EXCEL knowledge
Desired
· Strong working knowledge of BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
