DUTIES: Serves an engineer to support the Undersea Warfare Systems group. Works on complex equipment systems and subsystems, demonstrating competence and creativity working in areas that involve developing new concepts and uses of hardware/software. Employee will join an interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to be able to work across engineering boundaries. Selectee will conceptualize, plan, and execute design, development, and test & evaluation in the areas of Undersea Warfare Fire Control Systems. Selectee designs and develops improvements for subsystems & systems and/or equipment that significantly adds to its usefulness, reliability, and sustained operation. Selectee will develop or test new systems, equipment or materials that significantly add to the operability and usefulness of existing or new equipment/systems having new features. Some work may require state-of-the-art design to take advantage of new concepts in the development of advanced systems.
TASKING:
- Assist in overall embedded electronic systems design based on microcontrollers and/or single board computer and electronic components.
- Develop block diagrams to decompose overall system into electronic and circuit subsystems and interconnections.
- Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design of individual circuit card assemblies (Altium preferred).
- Schematic Capture
- PCB Layout
- Test newly designed circuit boards and sub-circuits.
- Documentation of PCB design.
- Work with manufacturers (fabrication houses) for PCB manufacture.
KSAs
- Understands electronics application development, design, and support.
- Good working knowledge of circuit design architecture, serial communications, and interface requirements; Electronic system development fundamentals.
- Able to analyze and resolve technical problems.
- Able to complete projects with minimal to moderate guidance and be able to produce, analyze, and edit engineering reports.
- Able to document electronics development efforts, change requests, and reporting.
- Must have demonstrated expertise with schematic capture and PCB layout tools and common electrical troubleshooting tools. Preferably in Altium environment.
- Able to communicate effectively, written and orally, with team members and collaborate with peers.
- Able to produce engineering reports of tasking accomplished and aggregate data to consolidate reports.
- - General working knowledge of computer systems

Pay: $45.00 - $62.50 per hour
