The Production Technician/New Hire Utility is responsible for operating equipment associated with the processes of extrusion or tube mill and handling of aluminum product. The Production Technician/New Hire Utility must meet these responsibilities while following job safe practices, standard operating procedures, and meeting quality requirements.
Responsibilities:
· Complies with all Job Safe Practices (JSP's)
· Reviews and follows all Standard Operating procedures for processes
· Ensures that quality objectives are met
· Operates extrusion or tube mill equipment
· Reports and reviews any unusual conditions with the supervisor or lead person, or other designated appropriate person.
· Maintains department 5S condition
· Reports on production results and department measurables
· Actively works to correct any unsafe conditions
· Interacts daily with other team members, and representatives of other departments
Background and Preferred Skills
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Post high school education a plus
· Solid verbal and written communication skills
· Experience operating industrial equipment
· Ability to work well with others in a team environment and on problem solving activities
· Ability to operate a forklift and other mobile equipment
· Must be able to work all shifts
- Must be able to pass pre-hire drug screen and back ground check

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. Advanced education preferred. Some experience in fork lift operation or manufacturing preferred. May be required to pass and maintain certification in the company’s powered industrial truck training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work orders, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to communicate orally with co-workers and supervisors in face-to-face, one-on-one and small-group settings to communicate work instructions and/or safety issues and concerns.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret graphs.
