The Logistics Freight Specialist role is to participate with the freight strategy (inbound and outbound) and to ensure adherence to the strategy. This is managed through carrier contract negotiations, detailed system analysis, sales programs and existing operational processes.
Functions:

Creates and implements development plans as appropriate for staff.

Holds suppliers accountable and addresses poor performance.

Conducts performance reviews in a timely fashion and gives clear and honest feedback (Cost, Service, Quality).

Evaluates the freight program as it relates to freight contract negotiation, carrier routing, freight budget (expense and customer revenue) and the continued development and maintenance of the Freight Revenue program.

Evaluates all strategic projects within the Logistics organization relating to all aspects of our distribution network.
Safety:

Assists in support of the safety strategy to reduce work-related injuries.

Promotes a safe working environment.

Performs all job functions in a safe manner and maintains safety awareness.

Reports known accidents, injuries and unsafe practices or conditions to safety manager.
Special Projects:

Collaborates on strategic projects for the Logistics organization as it relates to freight.
Qualifications: Additional years of experience or education may be substituted for each other as determined by Human Resources.

A Bachelor’s Degree in a related business program is required.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in a logistics or warehouse environment, including freight management.

Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking skills.

Proven track record of developing and implementing process improvements.

Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills.

Proficient computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to use a keyboard, calculator, and telephone. Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, occasionally standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting (10 lbs.), and an ability to adjust vision for close vision work. Up to 10% of the time is spent in manufacturing environments around industrial equipment. Able to travel up to 5% to other Company locations.
